Polyphony H.S. Volume II is now available!
"Polyphony is a find. An eclectic collection of prose and poetry, it's like nothing else around. It's lik a Paris Review for the young. Daring. Provocative. Exhilarating. And just plain fun."
-- Alex Kotlowitz
author of There are No Children Here

In March of 2005 students at The Latin School of Chicago introduced Polyphony H.S., a new national literary magazine for high school writers.
Our Mission:
- To offer young writers a chance at publication in the only national fiction literary magazine by and for high school writers;
- To work with high school students to help them become better creative writers;
- To seek out the finest high school writers in the country, to work with them to grow as writers, and to exhibit their fiction before a national audience.
In 2005
- 156 fiction and poetry pieces were submitted
- 23 pieces were accepted
In 2006
- we grew our invitation list to 1051 schools
- we received submissions from writers in twenty-one states
- we formed a staff of sixteen editors from high schools across the country
- we reached out to international schools
- we secured Tony Fitzpatrick as our cover artist for years to come
2007 Plans:
- Grow invitation list to 1500
- Grow submissions to 200+
- Encourage teachers to use Polyphony H.S. as texts in their Creative Writing classrooms
Student Writers:
We are always accepting fiction and poetry submissions. The annual deadline for the next volume, though, is the third Saturday in February.
Student Editors:
This year we are inviting students to become a part of our national editorial staff. We have designed an application process for interested students and will consider applications postmarked by the third Saturday in November. Please download, complete, and return the form.
