Editor Training Workshops

Polyphony H.S. is committed not only to providing editorial feedback on every submission, but is also devoted to training skilled editors. Our National Editor's Training Workshops (NET) are a vital part of the training process. The goal of the NET workshops is to prepare current 9th-12th grade students for leadership roles on the editorial staff of Polyphony H.S., and to prepare graduating seniors for leadership roles on university-based literary magazines. We hope that you will give this national leadership opportunity serious consideration.

In 2012 we are offering a 1-day Chicago-area NET workshop and two 3-day NET workshops.

I.  Sunday, March 4, 2012. The 1-day NET workshop is meant to provide students with a 'jump start' on the editorial process through an immediate hands-on introduction to the three genre areas and to our editing philosophy. Participants will begin as National First Readers, but will be poised to become Second Readers during the volume year.  The workshop fee is $150 and includes lunch and beverages.

II.  The 3-day NET workshops provide in-depth editorial training and mentoring by professional writers and editors. Participants in these summer NET Workshops will automatically serve as Second Readers on the National Editorial Staff of Polyphony H.S. for the 2012-2013 volume season. The workshop fee is $550 and includes breakfasts, lunches, and beverages.
